Or Did They?

Not far from the grotto There lies a tomb Run down and dilapidated It hides the secret well Through the cobwebs and decay This empty sepulcher cries out Hoping for the master to return It did not always lie this way He was here Or was he? The name on the stone The carvings on the wall So ornate Yet, unbecoming His greatness masked by the mystery His life marred by tragedy I was a child of 13 when I discovered it Much older when I deciphered it Even older when I understood it Or was I? The heir, I was not Just a bystander to the inept Jealousy and rage filled the air How could they ignore this grand monument? Him, for that matter Sure, this house lay dormant Only a faint whisper of the wind Not even the rat or the spider ventured near Or did they? My vigil, waiting for him was long Days of staring turned to weeks Weeks to months, months to years This candle burned The flame of my innocence turned to passion Truths understood The tears of my prayers...

Unforgiven

Today I stand Peering into dominion Searching for the pathway to your heart For years, I have waited Longing for your touch Hoping to explore the illicit boundaries When we last met The embers of jealousy turned to flame Partnerships to hatred Our identity lost Our existence no more Life is so different now I have changed My path no longer harbors light Only darkness Desires My heart remains empty though Longing for another sign A void only you could fill My fantasy, an impossible dream? Perhaps After all, I am only a memory now Your unforgiven

Elisabeth

This is from Walking Before Dawn  (available for kindle or email me for a signed copy) and was also published by Whispering Spirits Magazine .   A lone tombstone Elisabeth Alone in the heart of this sanctuary Are you the one? The maiden we search for The Green Lady The legends vary Drowned in a swamp Taken by a scorned lover Satan's seductress I am here Alone Come to me Many have seen you walking Hitchhiking on the lone dirt road Traveling the downward spiral into the depths of stone Snap I take a picture A beautiful light shines clear Is that you? Unveil your vortex Open my blindness Let me share your story Symbols burnt into the earth surround you Did they succeed? Summoning you from your slumber Conjuring your restless spirit Flirting with an unknown evil If so, can I enter? I belong with you Come to me Silence Suddenly I see a figure Is it you dear? No Worse, it is legion These cloaked figures rise from the ashes Surrounding me They want my heart My soul My life They w...

I Could Feel a Presence

Image
The windows should remain covered at all times A voice echoed in my mind Why? What secret did this house hold? I know something is there I could feel the presence As I peered into its soul The giggling, the laughter Almost chastising my every thought Do not worry about the statues The same voice called out Why? Was it not odd that these religious statues would just appear? Someone or something had to move them Could it be the same force I feel from afar? I guess it is possible The invisible entity at play Chanting scripture at my feet Do not let anyone else inside The stern voice grew louder Why? Even after 10 years, I dread opening the door I am sure I am unwanted A guest uninvited Just once I wish they would appear though These spirits My only friends Be careful what you wish for The last sound I remember For once, I discovered the grand entranceway alive The sun, setting through the stained glass Th...

Dreams

Image
Our dreams are fleeting Leading us through a maze of unknown and delight Sometimes our only escape What would we do without these mirrors? Let our hearts and souls rot? Without dreams, we have no hope No goals to achieve Trapped in the inferno We would be an empty void Blind to the subconscious world that creates us For many they are active Memories of the avenues The parades The loves A humanity much greater than ours I would hate living in a world without dreams A fate worse than death My mirror is focused My dreams alive What about yours?
